CAS# 122628-50-6
Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ), a redox cofactor and antioxidant, is produced by bacteria and found in soil and foods such as kiwifruit, as well as human breast milk.
It is marketed as supplements and also used as new drug development.
Quantity
Pyrroloquinoline Quinone Disodium Salt (PQQ) was discovered by Hauge in 1964 and its structure was determined by Kennard 15 years later. Is a redox cofactor and antioxidant, naturally produced by soil bacteria, found in fruits and vegetables, such as papaya, kiwi fruit, spinach, green peppers and parsley, etc.

The role of pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) in mammalian lysine degradation
The study identifies a PQQ-dependent dehydrogenase enzyme that is crucial for the degradation of the amino acid lysine in mice. PQQ is acting as a mammalian redox cofactor in this reaction, and therefore qualifies as a newcomer to the B group of vitamins.
