Urolithin A (XJY-UA 97%)

gut bacteria
Urolithin A (XJY-UA 97%)
CAS# 1143-70-0
Urolithin A is produced by gut flora and is a natural metabolite of ellagitannins, a class of compounds (polyphenolic antioxidant) found in pomegranates and some other fruits and nuts.
Quantity

Urolithin Ais a natural metabolite produced by gut bacteria breaking down polyphenols (ellagic acid and ellagitannins) in our food but only some bacteria are able to convert them into urolithins. It is used as dietary supplements and new drug development.

How it works?
Urolithin A improves mitochondrial function by stimulating a process called mitophagy.
Mitophagy, the targeted autophagy and destruction of mitochondria by the cell's autophagic apparatus, is generally considered to be the main mechanism of mitochondrial quality control. This is an evolutionarily conserved cellular process to clear dysfunctional or redundant mitochondria, thereby fine-tuning mitochondrial number and maintaining energy metabolism.

Schematic Representation of Mitophagy Pathways Activated by Urolithin A (UA):
pink arrow>>>> activates PINK1–Parkin-mediated mitophagy by stabilizing the kinase PINK1.
blue arrow>>>> activates a PINK1–Parkin-independent pathway by increasing mitochondrial BNIP3 levels.
